In a recent meeting held in Hanoi, Vietnam and France have reiterated their dedication to enhancing their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership by fostering closer cooperation across several key sectors including diplomacy, trade, defense, energy, technology, and infrastructure. The discussions between the two nations focused on assessing the progress made in their bilateral relations and emphasized the need to expedite the execution of their partnership action plan.
Vietnam has emphasized the importance of expanding collaboration in areas such as defense, cybersecurity, nuclear energy, science and technology, as well as critical minerals and major infrastructure projects. Additionally, Vietnam has urged France to hasten the ratification process of the EU–Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and to continue its support for lifting the European Union’s “yellow card” on Vietnamese seafood exports.
France has acknowledged Vietnam as a significant strategic partner in the Asia-Pacific region and has shown a keen interest in broadening cooperation in fields like nuclear energy, rare earths, satellite technology, transportation infrastructure, healthcare, and cultural exchanges. This mutual interest highlights the potential for growth in these areas and reflects the strategic importance of Vietnam to France.
The two countries have also committed to enhancing their coordination on regional and global issues, reinforcing their support for multilateralism, dialogue, and sustainable development. This commitment underscores the shared vision of both nations in addressing global challenges and working towards common goals.
