Qatar Chamber, Vietnam Boost Trade and Investment Ties in New Talks

Efforts to bolster economic and trade ties between Qatar and Vietnam were at the forefront during a recent meeting between Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari, First Vice Chairman of Qatar Chamber, and Nguyen Huy Hiep, Vietnam’s Ambassador to Qatar. The discussions, held at the chamber’s headquarters in Lusail, centered on enhancing collaboration between the private sectors of both nations and exploring potential investment opportunities.

Al Kuwari expressed Qatar Chamber’s commitment to fostering stronger partnerships and joint ventures with Vietnamese businesses, commending Vietnam for its impressive economic growth. The dialogue aimed to identify key areas for future cooperation, with a focus on facilitating collaboration between Qatari and Vietnamese companies.

The Vietnamese ambassador emphasized his nation’s enthusiasm for deepening economic ties with Qatar, highlighting that bilateral trade surpassed $860 million in 2024, a rise of $100 million from the previous year. He urged Qatari investors to consider opportunities in Vietnam, particularly in sectors such as agriculture, food processing, and halal products. Additionally, he underscored the importance of Qatar Chamber’s role in promoting Vietnamese agricultural and halal goods within the Qatari market.

In an effort to further strengthen these economic connections, the ambassador invited Qatar Chamber and Qatari business leaders to attend the Vietnam International Sourcing Expo 2026. Scheduled to take place in Ho Chi Minh City next September, this annual event is a significant global trade exhibition focusing on sourcing, exports, and supply chain collaboration. It draws international companies and industry experts from various sectors, including food and beverages, textiles, furniture, consumer goods, agriculture, and logistics.
