Vietnam and Japan are poised to deepen their bilateral relations with a focus on expanding cooperation across various sectors, including diplomacy, security, trade, and technology. This commitment was underscored by Japanese Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu, who expressed Japan’s desire to work alongside Vietnam towards mutual prosperity in a statement marking Vietnam’s 81st National Day.
Japanese Finance Minister Katayama Satsuki highlighted the evolving nature of the Vietnam-Japan relationship, pointing out new opportunities for collaboration in critical areas such as finance, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, critical minerals, and energy. This enhanced cooperation is seen as not only a driver of economic growth but also a contributor to regional stability.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu echoed these sentiments, noting that the partnership between the two nations is at its strongest, with significant advancements in science, technology, and innovation. He emphasized the importance of initiatives in green and digital transformation, as well as the development of skilled human resources, as key components of this partnership.
The two countries are keen on strengthening their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership by leveraging their complementary economic strengths and growing mutual trust. Efforts to enhance parliamentary exchanges and cooperation were also highlighted as part of this strategic expansion.
Additionally, the large Vietnamese community residing in Japan was recognized as an important link bolstering economic and social ties, further cementing the robust relationship between the two nations. As both countries look to the future, their collaborative endeavors are expected to foster greater regional stability and economic growth.
