Police forces from Vietnam’s Tây Ninh Province and Cambodia’s Svay Rieng, Prey Veng, and Tboung Khmum provinces are set to enhance their collaborative efforts to maintain security and public order along their shared border. This decision emerged from a conference held in Tây Ninh on Friday, where officials evaluated past cooperation and deliberated on strategies to bolster coordination against cross-border crime.
The police forces have been actively exchanging information and working together to tackle various forms of criminal activities, such as drug trafficking, human trafficking, smuggling, money laundering, and online fraud. The conference underscored the necessity of direct communication and regular meetings to facilitate swift information sharing and effective handling of cross-border crime cases.
In addition to focusing on crime prevention, the officials agreed to intensify patrols and surveillance of border trails and crossings to curb illegal entries and exits that could aid organized transnational crime. This move is part of a broader strategy to strengthen security measures in the region.
The conference also addressed the need for improved cooperation against terrorism, arms trafficking, and high-tech crime, while also considering emerging non-traditional security challenges. The discussions concluded with the signing of a cooperation memorandum aimed at fortifying crime prevention efforts and maintaining security and public order in the border areas.
