Thailand clinched the bronze medal in women’s volleyball at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, overpowering South Korea with a decisive 3-0 victory on Tuesday. The match, held at Park Arena Komaki, saw Thailand triumph with set scores of 25-20, 25-19, and 25-23.
This victory marks Thailand’s fourth consecutive medal in women’s volleyball at the Asian Games and their third bronze medal in the event, following their bronze wins in 2014 and 2022, and a silver in 2018.
The clash began with South Korea taking an early lead in the opening set. However, Thailand quickly turned the tide with potent attacks and strong serving, capturing the set 25-20. The second set mirrored this competitiveness initially, with South Korea briefly ahead at 11-9, but Thailand’s strengthened offense helped them secure a 25-19 win.
In the third set, South Korea once again gained an early advantage, but Thailand responded by leveling the score at 12-12. The two teams remained neck-and-neck until Thailand reached match point at 24-23, eventually capitalizing on a South Korean error to win the set and the match.
In addition to their bronze medal, Thailand’s victory at the 2026 Asian Games also earned them a place in the women’s volleyball tournament at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, further solidifying their status as a formidable force in the sport.
