The celebration of Vietnam’s National Day in Doha underscored the strengthening ties between Vietnam and Qatar, as officials from both nations emphasized their commitment to peace, dialogue, and international cooperation. The event, which marked the 81st anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day, brought together Qatari officials, diplomats, and business leaders.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar Nguyen Huy Hiep highlighted the progress in Vietnam’s development and its growing connections not only with Qatar but also with other nations. The diplomatic relationship between the two countries has been established since 1993, and cooperation has expanded significantly, covering sectors such as trade, investment, energy, labor, aviation, agriculture, healthcare, hospitality, and telecommunications.
Economic interactions between Vietnam and Qatar have shown a notable increase in recent years. By 2025, bilateral trade is expected to reach approximately $423 million, reflecting a growing engagement in business and investment opportunities. This growth is indicative of both countries’ interest in further expanding their economic partnerships.
High-level exchanges have continued to bolster these relations, including a visit by Qatar’s prime minister to Vietnam in October 2024. Both nations have expressed a strong desire to deepen bilateral cooperation, highlighting the potential for increased collaboration in various sectors.
