Vietnam and China are striving to enhance their people-to-people exchanges to solidify bilateral relations, as highlighted during a recent meeting in Beijing. On October 12, Vietnamese National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man met with a Chinese delegation led by Yang Wanming, president of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. Tran Thanh Man emphasized the significant development of ties between the two nations and called for deeper cooperation through practical and sustainable initiatives.
Tran Thanh Man praised the role of friendship organizations in connecting various sectors, including communities, businesses, scholars, and cultural groups. He advocated for continued collaboration through platforms like the Vietnam-China People’s Forum and youth exchange programs. Additionally, he underscored the importance of expanding cultural and tourism cooperation in preparation for the 2026–2027 Vietnam-China Year of Tourism Cooperation, suggesting increased exchanges between local communities and cultural destinations.
The Vietnamese leader also urged friendship organizations, researchers, and media representatives to disseminate accurate information and promote positive narratives about the bilateral relationship. This, he noted, would help younger generations understand the historical ties between Vietnam and China.
Yang Wanming reiterated the Chinese association’s commitment to bolstering the social foundations of the bilateral relationship. He assured that the organization would continue to promote cultural exchanges and mutual understanding, aligned with the goals set by the leadership of both countries.
Both sides stressed the importance of preserving traditional friendships and expanding people-to-people engagement, which they see as crucial for maintaining stable and long-term relations between Vietnam and China.
