Vietnam and Japan have reinforced their dedication to bolstering the relationship between their respective ruling parties and legislative bodies. This commitment was underscored during discussions in Hanoi between Nguyễn Duy Ngọc, a senior official of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and Hagiuda Koichi, the Executive Acting Secretary-General of Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).
The two countries celebrated the ongoing advancement of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and expressed intentions to enhance political dialogue and parliamentary interactions. This decision follows the visit of Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi to Vietnam earlier in the year, which set the stage for deeper collaboration.
Nguyễn Duy Ngọc emphasized Vietnam’s robust economic growth and the country’s efforts in administrative reforms. He suggested that Japan could contribute to Vietnam’s institutional development by sharing its expertise in local governance and decentralization. Additionally, Nguyễn Duy Ngọc advocated for expanded cooperation in several areas, including human resource development, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, green transition, economic security, and quantum technology.
Further, the Vietnamese side sought to strengthen ties between the countries’ parliamentary friendship groups and encouraged greater exchanges among young lawmakers. They also requested Japan’s continued support for the Vietnamese community residing in Japan and proposed simplifying visa procedures, with the long-term aim of establishing visa-free travel for Vietnamese citizens.
In response, Hagiuda Koichi expressed Japan’s backing for increased bilateral cooperation. He assured that Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party and its parliament would continue to foster exchanges and joint initiatives, particularly in advanced technologies, digital innovation, and green energy.
